My aunts and her children live in these apartments theres a lot. The landlord is the landlord of all the people houses. But she lives in one of the apartments do she have to pay someone or she doesn't have to pay rent? Thanks for helping i hope i make sense!!!

can a property owner be their own landlord?
of course.

Sometimes, being one's own LL is the only
way the owner can earn a profit.

If the building has 10 apartments and the landlord lives in one unit, then she is only renting 9. She doesn't pay rent to herself, but she also doesn't get to take any of her personal expenses as a tax deduction.

She is the resident manager. In Calif. Any apartment building with 16 or more units require an on site manager. If there are a lot of apartments then they are resident managers.
