Here's the story...short form.
I was a legal secretary for over 16 years......stuff happened, better job, moved away and came back. Worked for years in office in manufacturing at this point but able to wear jeans. Got laid off for 3 months and back again to work (thank goodness). Problem is is have to dress office casual. Okay, I'm working on getting clothes a little at a time BUT let's say you work with someone who has 4 pairs of dress pants and a 5 day work week. Do you notice that this person may wear the same pants (but different tops)..mix match sort of. I work with about 5 nice ladies who have MONEY but I don't and I have to be careful spending $$. Do you judge like this?

I dont think people even notice. I am a professional woman. I try to wear something different everyday. But, sometimes I repeat the same black pants with different jackets and different shirts. It doesnt matter as long as you wear clean clothes and you dress in clothes you are comfortable in. Good luck!

I don't. Collect tops in various styles and colors - maybe 10 winter and 10 summer.
Then collect winter and summer slacks or skirts in your best neutrals - white, rosy beige, navy, gray, black; or ivory, warm beige, caramel, olive, espresso.
Get shoes/hose or tights to go with neutrals for work.
Add a few great jackets in neutrals, then best brights.
Buy one great handbag a year.
Collect classic jewelry in your favorite precious metal [ gold or silver ], fav color [ ruby red, emerald green, etc. ] and best shade of pearls [ white, pink, champagne, black ].
