The libs think that the savings in power usage will more than pay for the conversion, but there is another side to this that they aren't telling. First, the chemicals used in the bulbs are considered hazardous to humans so the only place that will handle those chemicals is China. Second there is a warning about the handling of those bulbs because they contain mercury. If it is broken there are several steps that are advised. Odd that the EPA would ban mercury in our thermostats that last for decades, but allow it in a bulb that will only last for months. Third, the plants that manufactured the incandescent light bulbs are closing down leaving many Americans without work in an environment of a jobless recovery. I would imagine that this will also add to the energy savings, people out of work will use less energy because they will be unable to afford it. That should please the libs very much. Yes we are going to use less coal to make the earth greener but pollute it with mercury poisoning. Now that is real progress.
