My 6 yr old Dell does not have an Ethernet port, my modem is USB connected. I bought a laptop and want Wireless internet for it. I purchased a Linksys, but it only has Ethernet ports.

The answer is a resounding NO. But, with the right equipment, you can use your Linksys router to connect to both your old PC and you new laptop.

Either the Belkin F5D5050 Networking USB to Ethernet Adaptor or the Linksys USB200M EtherFast USB 2.0 10/100 Network Adapter (around $25) accepts an Ethernet cable from your router and plugs into a USB port on your PC. As for your new laptop, if it doesn't already have a wireless adapter built in, you can buy one for ($25 to $30)

I've never seen a router with a USB connection... doesn't mean they don't exist of course, but I've seen several network setups with internet sharing...

The easiest thing I can think of is possbily a USB NIC. This would possibly add better, if not easier functionality as well. A local store here sells an HP NIC (HN210E) for $14.99. I don't know if that's a good average, but I've bought a couple over the past year, so the price is stable, and I have several working in business locations... haven't had a complaint yet.

You can get a USB based wireless or wired network adapter at Wal-mart, or any store that sells computer equipment.
They work like a champ.
