I'm not sick very often, and usually keep it to myself when I am. However, I have pneumonia and pluracy (sp?) and sometimes when I have sharp pains in my ribs and back I can't help but to make a noise. When I do, she flies out of the room and accuses me of being dramatic.

Clearly she doesn't understand - have her talk to the nurse or doctor or research it on the web.

Pneumonia is serious so do everything the doctor says.

Joy to you.

So sorry that you are having this hurt. I am living the same as you. I do get sick often and am punished when I am. She will get sick one day and want understanding. Some people are just so selfish. They really don't know how to love others. Caring is absent from their souls. I feel sorry for them more then people like us - the physically sick, but with hearts. You have a serious illness where stress is not a good thing. Read something nice, get a good cup of warm tea or call a nice person on the phone to cheer you up. Let her go have a tantrum. She is the looser. Peace

First of all, does she understand what pleurisy is? Because I've had it and it hurts like a mo fo .. I actually thought I might be having a heart attack when I had it. I'm assuming of course that the doctor gave you meds to ease the pain.

As for your wife flying out of the room and accusing you of being dramatic .. that really isn't normal behavior. Have you done this to her in the past and now she is just paying you back so to speak? Otherwise I'd just have to say she is being a *****. I know us men can be asses when we are sick too tho .. feel for ya dude, hope you get well soon.

I think this is a person without a lot of expereience with physical pain. I'm an RN, and I've seen people with your condition, and yes, it does hurt very much. You have a right to express that. Does she come from a very stoic family? A lesson in compassion is well past due for your partner.
I wish you all the best and a speedy recovery.

Yeah I get aggravated with my wife when she's sick.

She keeps insisting that she isn't and telling me not to do anything etc. In fact she will always say, "I don't need your help," or "I don't need anything from you."

Of course by the time she admits she's sick it's too late. She's given it to one or both of the kids probably while making their meals. So I've got sick kids, sick wife, and dogs that are more work than both of the others.

BTW pleurisy? I'd rather have freakin' kidney stone, and I've had a couple of really big stones. At least the stones don't hurt every freakin' time you cough or breathe hard.

What a *****........yes, my now ex-husband used to be furious if I'd have a fever and have to spend $5 or so on medication. I remember having migraines and while I was vomiting he'd say "You're always complaining about something!!!" But I digress.......make up a bed on the couch and sleep there when you're sick, that way you won't disturb Her Majesty. I hope you feel better soon.

Awww, poor guy.

I'm a lucky one I guess. My guy pampers me like the gosh darn Queen of Sheeba every time I sneeze twice. :-)

I do the same for him. Guys CAN be on the dramatic side when sick (oh admit it, lol), but I love the old ball n chain so I do my best to make him feel comfy. I even give him FULL remote control priveledges.

yes, my ex wife would always become angry whenever I was ill--even if I looked tired (which I was because I was up late all the time tending to her dramas, etc), she was enraged, and accused me of doing so to make her feel guilty.
I know how it sucks, as it feels as though I did not matter to her. As time went on, it became ever more appearent that I meant nothing to her (long story), and so we are divorced.

Pleurisy's a ***** to have, feels like a knife is inserted in the body and it hurts to even breath. Tell her stick herself with a knife and not make a sound.
