How long will it take him/her to become it's full size?

A six month old painted turtle can not be sexed. It will take a couple of years before they can be properly sexed. And as far as when they will become full grown, it depends on feeding, but the average is 3 to 5 years.

male water turtles have longer tails then females. That stuff about salmonilla, the turtles that were sold in pet stores had that disease because they were fed contimated beef. Not all turtles have it. And box turtles are sexed by the underside. If there is a concave shape under them they are male. Flat under side-female.

Males of many turtle species will have longer tails and very long front nails. Here's some pix and more info:

In the case of the Painted turtle, you tell by it's tail. Males have tiny short tails & females have longer fat tails.

what kind of turtle? and be careful if you have any pets or children in the house. baby turtles are outlawed in a lot of states because of high salmonilla levels( due to kids putting them in their mouth cause they are so small) I know with box turtles, that if they have bright orange on their front legs that means they are a boy.....

You should go to a vet.I dont really know when it gets full sized.
