You'll see the video sooner or later. He stomps on the ankle of Jarkko Ruutu (deliberately) with his skate blade. 10 minute attempt to injure penalty and game misconduct.
I'd like the league to tell him he's done for the year, including playoffs and he can lobby for a right to return after the season is completely done with a provisal that any other incidents will end his NHLcareer.

Memyself: if you saw it, so will the league. It's rare to see a 10 minute attempt injure penalty. That suggests to me the league when it gets the referees report is going to throw the book at him.

I've seen the video a couple times now and actually it looks like Simon knocks Ruutu down first with what lappearsto be a knee to the back of the thigh.
Oh and this will be the 8th time Simon has been called to the NHL office to defend himself. Maybe it's time to say enough is enough; find something new to do, your NHL career is over.

Thaat's a 10 minute power play. And scoring doesn't end it. First, his team is short-handed for ten minutes. Second, since he was tossed out of the game, someone else has to sit in the box to serve it so the Isles lost two players.

Given that he was involved in a major incident within the past 12 months, he will most likely set the record for the longest suspension in the history of the league. I haven't seen it yet so I am not going to offer a formal opinion of the incident just yet, but Puck's description sounds like he will be done for a long, long time.
EDIT: Saw the video. Given Simon's stick to Hollweg's head last season, I am going to go out on a limb and say 40 games. He was trying nothing more than to injure Ruutu. I agree with LITY, it has to be longer than Boulerice's suspension.
If I am Colin Campbell, I take Puck's suggestion and ring him up for the year. Next year, if he applies for reinstatement, I deny his application. Repeat and rinse until he gives up.

25 games at least.
Simon slew-footed Ruutu, then stomped on his ankle when he was down. He could have severed Ruutu's tendon. Apparently, even the Islanders home TV commentators are fed up with Simon and his conscience efforts to injure players. The man has some rage issues.
Ruutu had an encounter with Simon earlier in the game. Uh, FSN Pittsburgh cameras were not following it (they were following the puck, which is what they should have been doing) but Ruutu and Simon were down on the ice. Bob Errey said it looked like they were "rolling in the hay" together. Lol, wow. I do believe Ruutu purposely fell on top of him though. So Simon was already seething.
Now, I'm not saying Ruutu's a hero or directly responsible for the win because I know he's just filling the role he's paid to and he's just trying to stay in the lineup or even gain more ice time... but this is why I like Jarkko Ruutu. (On the Pens, of course... I'm sure I wouldn't like him as much if he played for another team!) Ruutu could have paid quite a price, had he been injured, just to draw a penalty in a game that his team had the lead in. Agitation is an art and I think he's one of the best pests in the game today.
Admittedly though, I watched this game with a friend and we didn't give Ruutu the benefit of the doubt; we thought he was faking an injury at first, because FSN Pittsburgh's camera zoomed in on the upper half of his body as he lay on the ice. Then Simon skated away, the ref came over, and suddenly Ruutu was clutching his leg. I thought he was faking it like Barnaby. Haha.

If Ruutu is actually injured, Simon will probably get suspended. If not, it could go either way.
By the way, did anyone notice that earlier in the game Simon and Ruutu were tangled up on the ice along the side boards. When they finally separated and Ruutu got up first, it looked like Simon tried to kick him with his skate and missed. If the league sees both instances, he is more likely to get suspended.

Just saw the highlight on Hockey night. Boy what an a*********. I never really liked Simon. But that was totally intentional. You can see that he stopped, looked down, then stomped before stepping on the bench. How does that even get into a guys head? He needs to gone. As a repeat, repeat offender he need to be out of here.

It's Jarkko Ruutu..................people should';t get suspeneded for attacking Jarkko. They should be praised.
Seriously, I haven't seen the video yet but listening to the radio on the way back to Toronto they were saying it was as blatantly intentional as anything anybody has ever done in the NHL.
I think it's time for him to go.
Just saw the video..............at least 26 games. If Boulerice gets 25.........this HAS to get more.

The NHL should institute a rule where if a player commits more than one major penalty in a season, he should be suspended for an entire year. This is REALLY getting annoying, not to mention old.
Suspensions have been dished out left and right. The NHL NEEDS to step up and get much tougher when it comes to suspensions. This is getting out of hand.

As a long time Washington Capitals fan, and also a former fan of Chris Simons, I have to say at least the rest of the season. This is becoming a rather nasty habit of Chris'. He is going to really hurt someone bad, and needs to know that the league means business!!!

Frak me, Freddy, that was low. If Bertuzzi was suspended for punching Moore from behind, Simon should be banned from the NHL. There's a difference with Bertuzzi's incident, and intentionally inflicting further injury on someone while he's down and helpless...on a fresh and existing injury.
On a lighter note, IF Jude is who he says he is, he has to be Chris Simon. It's low enough for Jude.

He got a match for that little childish act! He should get at least a 10 game suspension. The tripping in front of the ref was bad enough, but to stomp on his ankle was uncalled for!

I didn't see it, but I was listening to it on XM. If it's as bad as they were describing it, I could see 40 games, if not the rest of the season.
Edit- OK just saw a recap. What a jerk. 40 games minimum. Guess he didn't take his meds before the game. Islanders should just dump him now. You can be a tough guy without resorting to acts like that.
