genuine athlete
genuine edge
genuine fast bowler
genuine slower ball

can you give me an example of an edge that isn't genuine? or genuine fast bowler who isn't genuine? and how slow does a slower ball have to be before it becomes "genuine"? who made him judge?

it doesn't mean anything.

Genuine would mean there is absolutely no doubt and nothing half hearted about it. Genuine Fast bowlers, Lee or Martin, basically any one who would average 140+. Where ppl like Bracken or Pollock would not be.

Genuine athlete a bit harder to track. Someone who will be running quick singles all the way through their innings maybe, Jonty rhodes, michael clarke.

I genuinely don't know why you're getting your knickers in a knot over this. WE all know what he means. Go get an English dictionary and find out. But I will help you, genuine means not a sham, coming from it's real source etc.In other words, they are not posing as something they're not, they are the real thing.
