help me find the title to this movie?

this man frames himself for murder to show people that people are in prison for no reason. he puts a bag over this girls head and tapes it and makes it look like he smothered her but he did not.
HELP!

Beyond a Reasonable Doubt (1956) is another one with the same plot. It involves a writer who frames himself, then things go wrong and he's almost executed.
