It's not just Texas. Everybody in the South pretty much says it. It stems from the fact that we don't have a plural form of "you" in English like other languages do. That's why people have a tendency to want to make their own plural form. The people out west say "you guys" and up north they say "you'uns."

I can't imagine that everyone in Texas does... but it's a very common phrase in some states. It's not that bad of a word to use, actually, seeing as the English language lacks distinction between you (singular) and you (plural).

I'm from NY. My best friend's wife is from New Orleans and she uses "yall". Now I use it sometimes, because, well, its actually a useful little term.
