My boyfriend has an uncircumsized penis. Unfortunately, I believe that he is not cleaning it properly becuase it stinks...bad. I am in the process of working up the nerve to tell him about it. We still have sex regularly and I wondering if his lack of hygien and his possible infection could cause for me to get an infection. ??

Just tell him to pull the foreskin back and rub the head when he showers. The whole process only take a few seconds and will prevent any smell from developing. This can happen if you shower together or you can just tell him before hand. It shouldn't be much of an issue if you say it nicely.

And don't let others make you feel that your boyfriend is somehow inferior because he's uncircumcised. He has plenty of advantages, too.

Circumcision has become less common, though. Circumcision rates were as high as 90% back in the 1960s and 1970s (that's partly why today's adults are so... brainwashed, I supposed you could say, about thinking that circumcision is better) but they have fallen to as low as 14% in some states. Here are the statistics:
http://www.cirp.org/library/statistics/USA/staterates2004/

The USA is the last developed nation doing it to a large number of newborns without religious or medical needs. (Europeans, Latin Americans, Japanese, and most Australians, Canadians, and Asians don't circumcise):

Why?

In a medical study, it was found that females are more likely to hit orgasm with an uncircumcised man:
http://www.healthcentral.com/drdean/408/60750.html

The lubricated foreskin (on the inside... like your eyelids) slides up and down during sex and masturbation to stimulate the head (which is why you don't hear of uncircumcised guys needing lube to masturbate).
http://www.cirp.org/pages/anat/

Studies have found that circumcision reduces sensitivity (this article also mentions how it has lost popularity in the USA in recent times):
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,285532,00.html

And despite being more sensitive, uncircumcised guys still last in the same six minute range (average) that circumcised guys do:
http://www.blackwell-synergy.com/doi/abs/10.1111/j.1743-6109.2005.00070.x

Circumcision makes masturbation more difficult:
http://www.blackwell-synergy.com/doi/abs/10.1111/j.1464-410X.2006.06646.x

Which makes sense, that's how circumcision was promoted in the USA:
http://english.pravda.ru/science/health/27-03-2006/77873-circumcision-0

Increases erectile dysfunction rates:
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/sites/entrez?cmd=Retrieve&db=PubMed&list_uids=14979200&dopt=Abstract%7C

If too much skin is removed in circumcision, it can make the penis smaller since the penis needs some skin to expand during an erection:

http://www.altermd.com/Penis%20and%20Scrotal%20Surgery/buried_penis.htm

Circumcision does not completely stop penile cancer. The American Cancer Society has already confirmed the myth that circumcision = no cancer.
http://www.cancer.org/docroot/CRI/content/CRI_2_4_2X_Can_penile_cancer_be_prevented_35.asp

If circumcision did stop penile cancer, then penile cancer would not be more common in the USA (most circumcised adults) than in some European nations, where circumcision is not practiced other than for medical/religious reasons.
http://www.circumstitions.com/Cancer.html

And a new study found that circumcision does not reduce your chances to get HIV/AIDS. Unlike other studies, this one was done in a developed nation; the USA.

If he has below average hygiene then he would smell even if he were circumcised. You say you're working up the nerve to talk to him about it - I think you should as soon as possible. It could be he is trying to fix the problem and too embarrassed to mention it to you.

One thing you could do is suggest you guys take a shower or bath together...that way you know he's getting clean, and you can still do sexual stuff with him.

It could be the smell is because of an infection, in which case he could see a doctor, or he could just naturally have a strong odour down there. But yes, if his hygiene is sub-standard and you guys are not using condoms, he could potentially give you a bacterial infection if that's what he has. Ignore the stupid answers that say you can get HIV, unless he has it already, bad smells are not going to cause a sexually transmitted virus to appear.

Well if he isn't cleaning it properly, he could begin to cause you problems with the bacteria build up. Also, if his odor is extremely pungent as you claim, he could have an std or sti in which you may want to have both him and you get yourselves checked out. And it may not be a bad idea for him to possibly go through with a circumcision in the future, or for him to at least get some professional advice on how to tend to his uncircumcised penis. But either way, you do need to be honest with him and express how you feel. Intimacy between partners should be enjoyable, not disgusting in any way. Hope it helps, and good luck!

It was once thought that uncircumsized men have a better chance to fight off infectious diseases and STD's. However, a study at Baltimore's Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine suggested that the inner surface of the foreskin does not have the same protective layer as the outside and is potentially more vulnerable to HIV. This can be a possible reason in your speculation of him having an infection, and he can have HIV. My best advice is that he should go and consult a doctor before he continues and sexual activity.

This is a common problem. Odor-causing bacteria are collecting inside his foreskin, resulting in the smell. Tell him to start using a penis health creme that contains Vitamin A every day. This creme will target and destroy this bacteria and eliminate the smell. There are other benefits to using one of these cremes too, making it a no-brainer in my opinion. Good luck.

It could cause you to get an infection or whatever it is that he might have. You definitely need to talk to him about it. Try to be kind and maybe even mention going to the doctors.

If you are comfortable enough to have sex with him, you have a right to talk to him about stuff that's going on 'down there'.
Try to say it in a nice way, and don't hurt his feelings because he may not even be aware of the problem. If he gets angry, he isnt worth your time because you're just trying to help him out. Good luck!

YES it could cause infections for you. If he has a bacteria infection it can be passed to you. Use condoms and do not give him oral sex until this problem is cleared up.

It depends on where you are. In M0slem or Jewish areas, men are usually cut. In Europe they usually aren't; in the US they often are; in Australia and NZ most aren't but many are. If the operation goes wrong, which it does sometimes, they cut everything off and turn you into a transsexual “woman”. You don’t cut off your toes to avoid smelly feet, you wash them. Same with a c0ck. Circumcision will make you horny for a few months because the glans is exposed. But afterwards the feeling in the penis is greatly reduced: more than half the nerve-endings in the penis are removed in the operation. Then scar tissue forms, making the penis less sensitive. The penis rubs against your leg and pants, so loses even more sensitivity. At a later stage keratinization takes place and it becomes very difficult to reach orgasm or even keep an erection without medication. All the above are the reasons why some women say they prefer it: it makes you work harder and longer in bed to reach your orgasm until expensive medication is the only help. They are never so keen on the analogous female operation on their vagina, where smegma is also produced. There is no truth in the hygiene argument. The foreskin protects you from infections. That’s what it's there for. The purpose of circumcision is to help pay the next instalment on the surgeon's new Italian sports car and make megabucks for the makers of drugs against erectile dysfunction.
