If your router is wireless, just buy a USB Wireless Adapter and connect it to your desktop.

Answer to Additional Detail:
Yes you can.
But I recommend you to buy a USB Wireless Adapter, which you can just connect it to any USB port, not the internal one where you have to open up your computer and put it in.
If you don't have any open USB port and have to buy an internal one, you have to open your computer first and see if there is any PCI slot left open. Something look like this - http://www.hwupgrade.it/articoli/350/pci.jpg If there is you can buy it and just put it in as the instruction from the product says. It works most of the time.

Hope it helped

Well, couple of ways. Just add an ethernet card to your desktop they only run about $15.00 (I am surprised nearly all desktops these days have ethernet).

Or you can add a USB wireless adapter to your desktop they are also less than $20.00 from many suppliers.

You could even use a usb to ethernet adapter on your desktop.
That way both your machines can connect to each other and the internet

Added:
You can get any ethernet card, brands aren't critical just function. Most desktops just let you remove the side panel and plug the card into a slot, there will be panels on the back that allow the card to fit

Get an Ethernet adapter card (NIC). $10-20 where ever computers are sold. (Even Walmart)
