Any suggestions? I need a "daring vision" of Hamlet, as the prompt states, and i need to (possibly) change the physical and historical setting, special effects, lighting, and costumes so as to change the impact of the play. I'm stuck.

A prision, a family business, a multinational corporation, a street gang, etc. I think there are many possibilities for modernizing the story.

Modernize the setting like the others said. Just take a look at the movie hamlet with ethan hawke which is set in modern times and revolves around a corporation.

There have been many modern stagings of Hamlet. To read about them, I suggest you put 'Hamlet' in the Wiki search box, and go down the list to the movies, which start in 1948 as I recall, and they will show you some different things to do, I believe.
If that is not enough help, go to the library and ask the refernence librarian to help you find different, modern staging directions for "Hamlet." From those you can begin to get your own ideas.
