Does "Jack off" come to mind (if I never said anything). The hubby and I are expecting our first baby and he is set on the name Jack, but I can't help but think about Jack off. I can just see it "Where did you go Jack...to jack off?" Am I being silly?

FYI...my mind isn't in the gutter. I saw a T-shirt the other day with a school bus. It said "Stop the bus to let my friend Jack off." That's where it came from...

No, I swear that I did not ever think of that. I have love the name Jack since I saw Hook and fell in love with the son, Jack.
But if you are thinking that, then maybe you are just worrying too much about the name. Though you may have hit on what the guys will tease him about in highschool... but I don't think it's bad enough to worry about changing the name. I don't think most people will think of Jack Off.
There are a million expressions with "Jack" in them and a million famous Jacks. I don't think you have anything to worry about.

Yeah, I hate to say it, but I think you're being silly.
I'm 44 years old and my oldest brothers name is Jack and never once in 44 years have I thought what you thought when I think of my brother.
Now I have thought the popular Jack in the Beanstalk and when I first heard of You Don't Know Jack, I honestly can say my Jack came to mind.
The name is a nice one. It was also my grandfathers and almost my sons. So good luck with it.

No way! Jack is a cute name. But if you really, really hate it, maybe you can name him something longer and use Jack as a nickname. 'Jackson' is a possibility.
The only reason people will say that is if he's a jerk. I know someone named Jack, and the thought had never ever ever occurred to me. You should be fine, as long as you like it yourself. If you don't like the name, then tell him you would rather name your son something else.

I didn't think of that one at all, but I'm sure some kids will eventually. but boys joke about jacking off with each other even if no ones name is jack :) . I don't think it should stop you from using that name. I like the name.

I certainly never made that association, and I know quite a few guys named Jack. (Occasionally I may have thought of one as a jackass, but not often.) Usually when I meet a Jack, I just wonder whether his name is really John or Jackson.
Do you know you're going to have a boy? Or is there a fifty-fifty chance that Jack will be a Jackie?

My dog's name is Jack, and one of my husband's friends always says "Jack MeOffer" when we mention our dog. So yeah, someone's going to say it, but for the most part, they won't.
I never really thought of Jack as a proper name, though. It's more of a nickname to me.

I think of that pumpkin-headed guy on the nightmare before Christmas... and then next that gave "you don't know jack" ... jacking off didn't come to mind til you said it - lol. You must have a dirty mind.

Just call him Jackson - or name him Jaxon and call him Jax.
I hope you two can come to an agreement for the sake of your peace of mind. It sounds like hubby is happy to have the child. Maybe just let him have his name and your son can redefine it for us. He'll be his very own version of Jack..
