To answer your question;
Yes, Some of the arguments of the left mirrors those of Hitlers Nazi Party.
Namely these to name a few;
7. We demand that the State shall above all undertake to ensure that every citizen shall have the possibility of living decently and earning a livelihood. If it should not be possible to feed the whole population, then aliens (non-citizens) must be expelled from the Reich.
The Lefts wealth distribution program, and rants to close the border.
12. Since every war imposes on the people fearful sacrifices in blood and treasure, all personal profit arising from the war must be regarded as treason to the people. We therefore demand the total confiscation of all war profits.
13. We demand the nationalization of all trusts.
14. We demand profit-sharing in large industries.
Explains the lefts hatred of Haliburton, Corporate profits, and the want to tax businesses out of business.
21. The State has the duty to help raise the standard of national health by providing maternity welfare centers
Can you say Hillary Care.
24. We demand freedom for all religious faiths in the state, insofar as they do not endanger its existence or offend the moral and ethical sense of the Germanic race.
Exchange "German Race" and insert "Atheist" and you have the mission of the ACLU

Read "The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich" by William Shirer. It will tell you all you need to know. Be warned: the paperback version was almost four inches thick. But it was a good read.
Hitler lived in a country, Germany, that had been defeated in World War I and, because of the reparations demanded by the Treaty of Versailles, became a bankrupt country with triple digit inflation. Its people were bitter and were willing to be led by Hitler who gave them someone to blame for all their troubles: the Jews. With this scapegoat, he renewed Germany's industrialized base and rebuilt its armed forces in defiance of the Treaty. If it wasn't for his overreaching himself and not listening to his army commanders, Hitler's Reich may have outlived him.
Today there are no close parallels to Hitler's Germany. There are countries, such as Iran who, like Hitler, want to eradicate the Jews. But Hitler's Germany was not a religious state, and even its most diehard adherents would not martyr themselves for the "cause". On the other hand, the Wahabists would not care at all to eradicate most of mankind if that would let them achieve the world-wide caliphate they so ardently desire. So, in a way in my humble opinion, the Wahabists were worse than Hitler's Nazi state in that they are more indiscriminate in their killing in the name of Allah.

Germany was suffering from it's defeat in WW1 the country was in a depression, unemployment was very high and inflation was out of control. The German people were desperate, Hitler promised them a way out and so they followed him. If you are trying to compare the USA to prewar Germany sorry it won't work.

Almost all dictators get started the same way, it seems like some of them may have even started with good intentions themselves.
They rally the nation behind a cause which is perceived as a threat. Then they convince people that certain freedoms must be temporarily sacrificed to overcome the threat. Unwarranted surveillance is implemented, people are placed on "watch lists".
Very abridged version, but it makes the point.

After WW One, Germany was forced to pay restitution and they had a major economic depression. There was always hatred for the Jews, a strong German nationalism and Germany was one of the first countries to embrace socialism.
I don't see many similarities with Hitler's fascism with modern politics, but there are some: modern liberals are hate mongers, intolerant, socialists, love big government, their equivalent of the Holocaust is abortion.

He lived in a post-war depressed country ready for change, ready for promises of a better tommorow, which the sick freak provided.
Find a war-torn country ready for change, I would start with Africa.
