Any teen who thinks that old farts should stay out of their business?

I ask questions and old people are always like "8th grade! Hunny, you are too young to date!"

OMG! I'm a virgin. I don't plan on breaking that!

By the way guys: I'm not dating. I'm saying that everyone else is dating!

You are too young to date. I'm also in 8th grade. In my school, a child's idea of dating is rediculous. Once, I saw a "couple" (and I can barely use that word) going through a snack line saying, "Ok hunny, we'll get this one." That was their idea of dating.

Just wait until you're old enough for serious relationships. You can't do things independantly until you can drive. I'm not saying you should wait that long, but wait until you're 15 at least.

I'd say that's true to a certain extent, but what are you doing asking question on Y! if you don't expect a wide variety of answers from many different people? This isn't Myspace or Myyearbook where the assumption is most people are adolescents. On the contrary, most Y! users who use Answers are going to be adults, and often time "old farts", as you call them. Just because you posts questions in the ADOLESCENT section, that doesn't mean that this turns into a teenage chatroom--you ask questions because you want answers.

It's not even a matter of respecting your elders; it's more along the lines that if you want people to stay out of your business, then don't give them an in to it, like you do when you ask questions about dating and so forth. Realize that you are not always going to get answers that you are happy with, people are going to express their concern and opinion.

Well, you can never really blame anyone for stating their honest opinion. It's in the constitution of both Canada and America, wherever you live. But think of it from their point of view, things were different back then. Also, they might be taking on some of a parental stance. After all, they might want to protect you, what with all the perverts out there, even for eighth graders. Plus, especially on Yahoo Answers, you hear about these teenages getting pregnant all the time. They just don't think you should be getting into things like that, probably, because I suppose they assume dating leads to one thing and then to another.

I'm not an old fart (I'm not even 20) and I think that 8th grade is to young to date.

Learn some respect why don't ya. It's a shame that we can't respect our older generations. We could learn a lot from them if we just listened. We could learn what NOT to do for instance. Imagine a world were we learned how to act and do things by having someone older teach us. Learn from their mistakes so you don't screw up so bad.

Remember whatever you do karma is going to through right back at you one of these days.... so have fun with that.

Well if your lucky you will live long enough to be called an old fart but from what I read in this that isn't likely because you don't respect adults let alone yourself. Part of being given chances or privileges is earning them. 14 is far to young to be dating like it or not. What happens if you get pregnant and he just walks away? What will you do then cry to us that life isn't fair. Think before you speak.

Well, they just shouldn't be judgemental. I'm 45 and I dated in 7th grade.

Different people mature at different rates and some young folks are really mature for their age...then again, I know some 30 year olds who act like children too. I try to let the person's character dictate my response to their question.

Even though it doesn't seem like you are too young to date, the fact is that you are. But if you want to date, then show that you aren't like every other stupid teen in this world. Plus calling them old farts is showing that you are immature and you need to be mature in order be trusted to be responsible when dating.

This is actually a parenting forum - for parents to ask about their adolescents/teens and preteens. I personally don't care who is here, but there's quite obviously going to be a lot of adults around.

One day you'll be an old fart and you'll understand. I think you need to show a bit of respect. I don't know how old 8th graders are as I live in New Zealand but from the way you talk, you're not ready to date, you need to grow up a bit first.

You are too young. Look at the number of teenagers your age end up asking for help because they got pregnant! Do you want to be in that position any time soon?

Edit: In response to your virgin comment. No one PLANS on breaking their plan of staying a virgin until marriage but in reality, MOST people do break that promise! Look at the statistics honey.
