This is a Republic. A republic is a nation where citizens elect leaders to make decisions for them. We elect congressmen, presidents, and local leaders, so we are a Republic. But, of course, a Republic is also called a Representative Democracy.

Have you EVER in your life recited the pledge of allegiance dude?
It IS a Republic.We vote for representatives to vote for things for us.
A democracy everyone votes for every issue, not the politicians.
Read the pledge of allegiance where it says " ......and to the REPUBLIC for which it(our Flag) stands..."
