Can someone tell me how the movie ends?

I totally dug the book since the twist on *how* he is a legendary figure in the end completely caught me by surprise. I want to see the movie, but don't want to waste 8 bucks if it's just going to piss me off with some ridiculous Hollywood ending.

Hollywood endings work two ways: way too happy, or a grand and noble heroic sacrifice especially for someone else (see Bruce Willis in Armageddon). If it's either of these two things, it's not the ingeniously clever twist Richard Matheson gave in the original story. The ending still freaks me out! Why mess with something that was already perfect?

The last half is different from the book. The movie totally loses the meaning of the title...

I dont know if you consider this a 'Hollywood Ending' but ya he meets the two humans (lady and her kid) they go to the basment, cannibals come, they're in some bulletproof glass thing, Robert Neville (if thats his name) discovers the cure, gives it to the lady, locks them in a shelter, cannibals banging head on glass about to break it, Will starts a grenade, and just as it detonates, RObert and the main cinnibal bain their heads on the glass on the same time, it breaks, Robert and all the cannibals are killed. Then the lady and her son, take the cure, and cure people, then the movie ends. Its awesome, go see it!

Haven't read the book, but the movie was really good. Will Smith was awesome. He's come a long way from his Fresh Prince days. The movie did scare me, and the ending was not Hollywood-ish.

Ok i'll just summary the whole movie. He thinks he is only man alive he tries to cure the virius with his faithful companion Sam( His) dog. Through out the whole movie he has flashbacks makin the story more clear as is progresses. Well on his way to find the cure he tries to get a deer he tells Sam to go after him well he does and runs into a "Hive", an area that masses victims to the virus usally buildings because UV light burns them, So he goes in the building for Sam. He finds Sam under a desk but Sam won't come then he hears a noise a Turns to face a Virus victim so he shoots i to death but more come so him and Sam run and jump outta the side of the building. Well the next day he is driving he sees fred (Mannnequin) in the middle of the street so he say's "WHAT YOU DOING THERE FRED?", "IF YOU REAL FRED TELL ME NOW" then he shots him and walks up to him well he gets trapped and is knocked out when he wakes up he gets out of the trap but it is late soa virus victim sends his dogs after him and he kills them but before that Sam gets bit he gets home and has to kill Sam. That night he goes out and runs alot over but they flip his car well a women name Ana( I think) and he son arrive in a boat and bring him home well they forgot to spray his porach so they couldn't smell they so they come and he blows some up and kills them but one is left and calls more so they go to the lab and Relise the one they caught is healing so he takes a blood sample and hides Ana and he son then he takes a nade and blows up himself and them. The next morning Ana goes to a Safe place and she gives them the Blood and then it ends.

Either see at an afternoon matinee or wait for the dvd. Saw it today and am glad I did not pay full price. Beowulf was better.

The MPAA has a summary of content next to the ratings. Although they don't include some items specifically (like violence towards animals) they'll list things like intense violence, gore, rape, and other objectivable things. Movie Mom also is useful since her reviews are more in depth, and will point out some more of the those moments you wish to avoid. Kind of a shame, because I liked I am Legend. Thought the dog's death was tragic, especially since the dog was the last remaining family Will Smith had (his daughter and wife died in the movie earlier on), but it wasn't a very cheerful movie.
