I surf the internet a little in my down time here on base. I see pictures of people protesting the war, but the signs say "Do not support our troops!" Why would people not support fellow Americans? I could see not supporting the war, that's understandable, but why would you not support the people fighting and losing their lives over there? To me that is unAmerican. How would you like it if you were fighting for your country and the people who you thought supported you really didn't? I've been to Iraq. I've seen people die, enemy and friendly. I'm set to go again next year. So are these the kind of people I have to tell my fellow soldiers about when I'm there? Now before you answer this question remember this question is not about why we are there and what we are doing there. It is about our fellow Americans fighting there and losing their lives. I believe that everyone should serve their country in some way, to pay tribute for those who have fought for our freedom. Dont like it get out

As a VERY PROUD step father of 2 inlisted in the US ARMY (82nd Airborne & 1st Cav)I agree with your statement. I have one still in Iraq and 1 that just got home. I support all that our troops are doing and those that think otherwise should go to another country where they think they would have it better.

They need to remember if it wasnt for our troops they wouldnt even be able to hold those signs without getting arrested.....

GOD BLESS OUR TROOPS!!!!!!!!

You said, "I could see not supporting the war, that's understandable, but why would you not support the people fighting and losing their lives over there?"

I think the problem is that the folks that don't support the troops can't see the bigger picture and are unable to separate the men and women fighting the war from the policies that brought the war. I think, if you could get the people with the signs saying "Don't support the troops" to think about the people and not the policy, you'd find that more people support the troops than don't.

I've never seen a protester holding a "do not support the troops" sign. Either that is a Photoshopped image created to infuriate people (my first guess) or, if it's real, those people suck and do not by any means reflect the opinions of the vast majority of Americans. I know people who strongly dislike Bush, the Iraq situation, America's role in world politics, etc... and not one of them has ever blamed the troops or said anything other than "bring them home".
FYI - I personally support Bush and the Iraq situation as it stands. It is by no means ideal, but pulling out right now is exactly the opposite of the right thing to do.

for other Americans, let me first apologize for some peoples actions. they, like our some of our government, have lost sight of this war and the impact that it has caused on our soldiers. i haven't protested the war. i hate the fact that young people have been sent over there and died and i feel that if the job was left unfinished, those young souls died for no reason.
the point of why we are there is really obsolete now after this long. people are focusing all wrong. it's only those that have lost a son or a husband that holds on to the true meaning.
we all need to stay together and support everything that goes on.

I support our troops wholeheartedly, but NOT the war. I think Bush is an idiot! God Bless You and all of the soldiers out there fighting for our freedom and our country's safety. Happy Holidays!

I don't support the war, but I do support the troops. My cousin who is in the Marines has been to Iraq 3 times already, and a very good friend of mine is in the Army and he's been there twice.

I support the troops. It's Bush's war that I resent! There was no reason for y'all to be over there. But thanks for going and coming back alive! I wrote a war protest song, and I didn't say anything negative about the troops. I did have some unpleasent words for Bush.

Support your troops ALWAYS!!!

I do NOT support the war, however, I love my fellow Americans and especially my troops. It is Un American, imo, to not do so!

Keep up the good work my friend!

I agree with you. There are actually people that cheer at veterans funerals. They should be made to leave and never able to enter the US again. That's disgusting behavior and the person that died, fought for their right to do that. Some people should really be ashamed of themselves.

I'm with you brother!

I'm a proud American, and my family keeps you soldiers (and your families) in our daily prayers.

My son just joined the Marine Corps. He started boot camp in San Diego two weeks ago. Naturally, I'm a proud Marine Mom.
