Hi, i hope someone can help me. I am getting so fed up with this "company"
I signed up to their services nearly a month ago and never recieved any paperwork from them, no direct debit forms, no usernames, no passwords etc etc. I contacted them and found out that they have me living at the wrong address so they immediatley said they would change the address on their files, but i need to go to my neighbours (where they had me living at wrongly) and ask for any mail which may have come there. I did and the neighbour who had only just moved in said i had a few letters, (one being a direct debit form which had all my bank details on) and my username and passwords etc etc but he had assummed they were the previous tenants and so threw them away. (which is worrying me as i shred all my personal information and i am worried if hes just thrown it in to the regular trash which is easily accessable)
I called the company again to ask for my contract to be canceleled and was told that..........

I had a miminum contract to fufil and that i would need to fight it if i wanted to get out of it. And i was still amazed to learn that after contacting them 3 times about this, they still have my address wrong and none of the files have been updated. I am getting fed up with this and wonder what steps can i take? I have mad an appointment with my bank for monday morning as i am going to try and get my account numbers etc changed (that will be a nightmare as i have to change all my DDs etc)
Can i demand that i am released from this contract as they messed up with my information, or is it not worth the hassle and stay until my contract has expired?
Thanks in advance for any answers.

Im in the UK so wouldnt DPA be something they have to abide by?

i gave them my correct address at the time, and every time i called them up and gone through dpa checks i have said my correct address and they still passed it, even though the account was registered at another address. I have contacted them 3 times to inform them the address they hold is wrong, yet it always seems to stay wrong and even nowif i ring now, it will be the wrong address. (i called them last night to check if it had been corrected and still had not)
BUT i am more mad that they have sent out ALL my bank details!

can not change my address at post office as i never lived at the wrong address and that is the only way i can do it is to show proof that i lived at both address. The company in question wont even contact the post office for me and ask them to redirect it (as the post office has advised me to do)

Surely in theory the contract is invalid, as it isn't you, it is someone at next doors address ? I would go to the CAB and check your legal position, but I cannot see how that contract would hold water in a court of law.

Write them a letter and mail it so that they have to sign for it, and in the letter inform them that since you have never received any paperwork from them that they are in breech of the contract, and that they are to remove you from their records as a client, and that if they harass you anymore you will contact a lawyer about bringing suit against them. (BUT, be serious about the lawsuit). If there is anything about the confidentiality of your information, get them on that as well.

Grey Wanderer is right.
Warn the 'Company' that you have not received any communication from them. It might well be that this will be the 'thin edge' of a wider problem and others could benefit from your action. BBC 'Watchdog' loves these stories!

I'm in the US. But your best and easiest solution is to go to your Post Office and fill out a Change of Address. Your nane and the address of incorrect delivery and to be forwarded to your correct address. Simple?

You could TRY, but I am willing to bet YOU gave them the wrong address. that would make YOU the guilty party.
