Hi all,

I live in Los Angeles, CA. I have been an Angelino all my life, and I agree with those who say that L.A. is, for the most part, like a giant suburb. Don't get me wrong, I like Los Angeles, but with the price of housing and living and whatnot, I may be looking for another city to settle in.

I am looking for a city, or somewhere close to a city, that has these qualifications:

1) Decent to good weather (sunshine, not a lot of cold etc.)
2) Medium to very large in population
3) A general sense of civic pride among its people
4) A generally progressive political environment
5) A good university or college nearby

I am sure a place like this exists. I just need help finding it.

Thanks all!

well, until you mentioned "progressive political environment" I was all set to suggest Nashville, TN! We moved here from Las Vegas ( born and raised in SF Bay Area) 6 1/2 years ago and absolutely LOVE it. We ARE politically progressive and it CAN be a bit of a problem, but this area is SO beautiful, with generally warm and wonderful people that we deal with it. I happen to work for a family as a nanny whose dad was the leader of the democratic party here for a long time, so at least I work in a very progressive environment! We DO have 4 distinct seasons, but all in all, the winter is fairly short and mild. The city is large enough- about 1 million in the metro area- but feels smaller, which we like. We actually live in a suburb about 20 miles north, which we love but still gives us easy access to all the amenities of city life with a short drive. We are called "the Athens of the South" because of our many fine institutions of higher learning. Vanderbilt, of course, would be the most famous, but there are many others as well. We also have great medical facitities, 2 beautiful lakes, an international airport, some of the best municipal parks in the country with great hiking and beautiful scenery, a ballet company, a symphony (and a beautiful new symphony hall), several museums, plenty of music (of ALL kinds), a year round farmers market, a wonderful downtown area, good jobs, a good and still affordable housing market.... gosh, I could go on and on!!!! Check it out online and I'll see you around town- cuz I KNOW you would love it here! (besides, we NEED more liberals!)

No. the different day i got here upon $10 on the sidewalk. I regarded around to work out if all of us became into finding for it. (not a single different guy or woman became into around in any respect) and waited for a minute or 2. as long as you're making an attempt and not purely grab it up hoping no one see's you doing it then positioned it right down to luck on you behalf. besides the reality that there is a shrink on how lots money you're able to shop or having pronounced that hand in yet this is up on your unsleeping to return to a decision on the place that shrink is.
