stress is self defined. no one can tell you how stressed you are you decide . you also have the choice to allow or avoid stress. It is when your body reaches its limit both mentally ad physically. thier are two types of stress Eustress and Distress. Eustress is positive stress that causes you to feel good and ACCOMPLISH THINGS!*ie* for example getting pumped before competitive sports and performance, projects. While the negative stress called distress are things likefiling bills.Deppression is severe sadness. now ,is stress the same thing or synonimous with depression ,NO. stressful things can cause a deep sadness klike depression but stress can also good for you. stress before competition causes you to perform better . remember stress is self defined . mabey depression is too.

In a technical sense; they are nearly opposite states of being.
Stress releases 'activating' endorphins in our body (i.e., the flight-or-fight response). Depression is a state where things are slowed down and/or dulled. But in the human mind, a constant state of stress can lead to depression via feelings of helplessness that the stress cannot be relieved. The reverse of that can also be true. I.E, You're too depressed to make out your Christmas cards, but your inaction causes you to feel stressed as you know this may dissappoint many people as well as yourself?
Also in humans, stress and depression are closely linked and one state can provoke the other state to occur simultaneously. Stress can also mask depression. I.E., a person is depressed because they cannot find a mate, so they work 70 hrs per week to fill the void and experience so much stress that they never feel (realize) that depression is the major feature of their psychological distress. Thus, in some instances, stress can feel the same as being depressed. It's all very complicated though, isn't it? :)
