Is abortion fair on the child? It will never know life. And as someone once astutely observed "it is interesting to note that people who advocate abortion are people who are living."
A mother does not "own" her foetus and the foetus is not part of her body, the foetus is clearly a separate entity. The mother is the "host" and she bears the foetus as a trustee. All informed opinion supports this view.
I have also noticed a sort of "possessive" attitude in many mothers of young children, particularly with feministic women. A child is so often erroneously referred to by its mother as "my child", rarely as "our child". Yes, a mother does nurture and give sustenance to her children but they are clearly not her personal property.

Sorry, there have been some naff answers here. Many posters are clearly in denial and have avoided the question completely. One even criticised the correct spelling of foetus, asserting it should be 'fetus' as it is in the US. So parochial. Another was adamant that a foetus was a parasite! I'm disappointed by the level of answers.

Agreed - it's not exactly in line with the standard claim of "In the child's best interests..." now is it?
I've read plenty from feminists about how unborn babies are 'parasitic'... and yes, I've heard the "my children/babies" all too often.

What i in my view opt to nicely known is why undeserving parent are allowed to maintain having extra little ones. There are too many thoughts approximately women folk having little ones taken from them and placed into foster care, and then they bypass out and have extra little ones that they don't guard. and then there are the adult men who've all those little ones that they don't help. mandatory STERILIZATION will guard the abortion project and the undeserving parenting concern on the comparable time. Have one infant which you do not or can't guard? infant is going up for adoption and you get snipped. And the snippage applies for the two women folk and adult men who can't save their pants on.

If the woman were aborting a child, a human being, then no it wouldn't be fair. But we are talking about an embryo or fetus, which is not viable aka can not survive outside the mothers uterus.
Yes the mother does own her body, including anything that grows inside of it. And if it is "wrong" that is her choice, her consequences to deal with now isn't it?

From that point of view, no, it certainly is not fair.
But life isn't fair to begin with. We are not promised tomorrow.
No, it is not fair to the child who never has a chance to live.
I agree- the baby (Fetus) is a separate entity in and of itself, even though its life is dependant upon its mother. Ergo, the baby is not just a "part" of the woman's body. So the argument that pro-choice advocates use when they say that it is "my body" holds no water. It is a logical fallacy.
No- life is not fair. Life is full of pain and shame. But I think that everyone should be given the chance to experience it, because there are also good things about living.

The fetus is clearly not a seperate entity - it is growing inside of the woman and attached by the umbilical cord and placenta. And refering to a woman as a "host" is kind of creepy and makes it seem like the baby is a parasite.
Is it fair that my dad abandoned me and purchased several homes, a sailboat, and motorcycles (all from inherited money) without paying a single dime for my education? I have the 40K student loan to prove it.
Animisa: Celtic was the one eluding to the fetus being a parasite by calling the woman the "host."

I do refer to my daughters as my daughters and it has nothing to do with possessiveness. It's because "my" is much more specific than "our" and I usually am not with my husband when I talk with other people about them. "Our" is a vague term and can refer to anyone. I'm sure he does the exact same thing when I'm not around.

I think that it isn't fair for a child to have to suffer in this world when there is already so many children here in this world that have no food to eat. And it's spelled fetus. And a woman carries the child. It is hers. It is in her body and gets it's nutrients from her, so whatever. If I want to have a abortion I can and I will. No one can tell me what to do with my body.

Yes, it is fair.
The fetus is getting the better end of the deal.
"Better to never have been: the harm of coming into existence." Read that. It's supposed to be a joke but it makes a good point.

freeman- that's ridiculous. While people may be influenced by their family's views, they don't necessarily have to. Many people end up with views, opinions, and lifestyles that do not mirror their parents. There is no "liberal race."

Well the obvious answer would be no, wouldn't it?
But then, Feminists claim its a woman's body, thus their right do to whatever she wants with it, though the government would beg to differ on that one (e.g. taking drugs).
