I'm gonna have to assume you know what "Chops" is, cause i'm not about to ring the school bell. For me - Chops gives the player the ability to not have to hold back any ideas that they may have, and they're not being limited by lack of technique, and when i hear players that aren't held back , THAT's what gets me off...

People are easily impressed when a guitarist can make an impressive little diddly. People who don't play guitar can hear a simple set of licks and thiink WOW, when really, its not that hard to do.

P.S. Nobody seriously uses the word "chops" in relation to guitar or any other music these days.
