I think it must actually feel rather uncomfortable. I know I wouldnt want a string of lace or something right in my butt-crack.
As for appearance, as long as the woman has a decent enough body, I'd love it. I dont wanna see a 20 year old who's 70 pounds in a thong, and neither would I wanna see a 20 year old who is 400 pounds in a thong. Sorry ladies, but appearance does matter!
