1/01/07 Ga. changed their child support payment structure. Now the required amount for the non custodial parent to pay is not only based on the (nc) parent income, it now brings into the equation how much the custodial parent is making herself. There is supposed to be some calculator that is used to determine the amount based on the Jan. 1st , 2007 law that took effect for Ga. I am making about 70k and the custodial parent is making about 40k. We have 3 teenage children.under the age of 18. Can anyone tell me how to use the new calclated amount to determine tghe child support I am required to pay?

You mean the did not consider the custodial parents income before? I thought EVERY state already did. In MOST states, the formula is a GUIDE. The actual support is whatever the Judge orders. They usually have a degree of discretion to depart from the formula. The amount of time the children spend with each parent is also a factor. If the non-custodial parent covers insurance, or other costs directly, most states factor that in as well. In short, any answer you get here is incomplete.
