I have been trying to get a nightgown for my daughter from www.disneyshopping.com. It has been out of stock for several weeks yet I check faithfully everyday. You can imagine how thrilled I was to see that it was in stock on Thursday - and in her size! I rushed to order it, even putting additional items in the cart to qualify for their shipping deal. I paid via credit card and breathed a sigh of relief that she was going to be so excited for Christmas. Imagine my disappointment the next day to find an email from Disney stating that the nightgown was out of stock and my order couldn't be filled. I emailed their customer service department immediately and was told it is their "busy season" so sometimes their website doesn't update as quickly as it should. My thing is, it is everyone's busy season. I order from other sites and never had this problem. Every time I email a complaint I get a generic "thanks for your time" note back. I can't find any other contact info to get to a manager etc

I would like to find someone to contact so that I can at least be notified if the nightgown is back in stock. I think that is the least they can do under the circumstances. I could have purchased the nightgown off of Ebay at the time and yet I let the auction go by because I had ordered from Disneyshopping.com and trusted my order would be filled. What should I do?

Wow, interesting responses so far. I thought for sure in the business section i would find people who understand that the customer has the power - if a company provides poor customer service they will soon go out of business. Disney prides themselves on good customer service yet I am not receiving it. Word of mouth is still powerful. If they don't fix this I won't shop their website again and I will let all of my family and friends know and they in turn will tell others...what's that quote about one unhappy customer causing so much lost business? Anyways, as Joel E. Ross said: Never underestimate the power of the irate customer.

contact BBB and register a complaint, then see if you can find a landline number for disney and call the highest person in that org and let them know how disaapointed you are with the response you have been getting.

Your complaint won't go far. It IS busy season. Perhaps they are just busier than the other sites you use. You can file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, but they are not practicing business in an unjust or unfair matter and it will not accomplish anything.
That is just how it works when something is in high demand. If you went to a store and other people were before you, you would not get the item either. Online is no different. Perhaps they only had a few of the item and other people were ordering at the same time as you, or had it in their cart and checked out a few minutes before your order was finalized.
If they were taking your money and not refunding it, then you would have a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.
According to the disneyshopping.com website, you can call Disney Shopping Guest Services at 1-800-328-0368 during the hours of 7 am - 1 am ET.

Is there a Disney store in your area? You might have better luck there.
A few online stores actually show real time inventory on the ordering website, but most don't, which can lead to disappointment.
A manager isn't going to help that. Realize that there are people all over looking for the same item, and it's going to go very quickly when they get more in stock.
Good luck in finding your item.

Check ebay. It's only a nightgown and where you are ordering from is a very popular website.

Unfortunately, they are probably swamped with customer complaints like yours. I would email them and leave it at that. You can always buy it later, or just go with something else. I'm sure her Christmas won't be completely ruined.

You should call Disney, and demand that you talk to a representative, or their supervisor, or better yet, the CEO.

move on. Nobody cares about what your problem is, they are only interested in their paycheck. If you want to get it keep checking the website.
