how does it work if i am marked down on birth certifercate white but im really american indian and white but i consider myself just american indian isnt it a law you cannot be judged or in other words you can put down what you feel you are if you have documents idk..... just wondered

Your birth certificate does not matter in this case. Legally, companies are REQUIRED to collect this information in order to 'prove' they IGNORE it. If that make sense to you, please explain it to me. Put down whatever you want, if anyone complains, threaten to sue them for discrimination. If they are dumb enough not to back off, you are almost guaranteed to win.

I think that should be done away with, there is no need for them to ask this, since it has nothing to do with performance in any situation. Besides, you can put down Indian but if you don't look it, they will just think you are trying to be funny! I filled out a form for work that asked if any members of my family had ever been involved in wars against the U.S.; I put down yes, Confederate & Indian wars against the white invaders! I still got the job. I thought it a stupid question & I think that asking about your ethnicity is just as stupid. (Both of my answers were true).

The only time it really matters if if there are hiring preferences for Native Americans, (such as a job with a tribe or with the Federal Government)
