What flowers bloom at night? Are they all warm weather blooms or do any bloom in the cold weather? Any tips or advice about creating a moonlight garden (which is a garden with flowers that only bloom at night) is appreciated.

I recommend adding lots of white and silver in your garden. The plants that I know of are all warm weather plants - here are some that you should consider:

Datura meteloides - Devil's trumpet, blooms at night, flowers are white or lavender

Ipomoea alba - white moonflower vine

Stachys lanata - (lambs ears) - they have white fuzzy leaves that look silver. Makes a great accent plant

Cestrum nocturnum - (Night blooming Jesamine) - white blooms that are very fragrant

Matthiola bicornis - Night blooming stock - fragrant blooms in lavender, pink and white

Brassavola nodosa - Lady of the night orchid - white blooms that are very fragrant

Hope this helps. Good luck!

Partly depends where you live. If you live in a warm enough place, Night-blooming Cereus cactus is fireworks for one night a year. White Camellias like Mine-No Yuki and White-By the Gate are evergreen and bloom in the fall and winter. A moonlight garden all of white really shines during the warm balmy nights of summer, however, not so much in winter. Maybe limit yourself to white flowers, but not to only plants that open at night. "Only open at night" is too restrictive and you will find it hard to really put together something pretty. Be sure to include nicotiana, that has white, star-shaped, very fragrant flowers that seem to glow in the moonlight. Though an annual. it happily reseeds itself each year. If it is warm enough, plant some gardenias too. If you have lots and lots of room, plant three or five Silverthorns (Elaeagnus pungens reflexa) the leaves are silver and the tiny flowers bloom in the fall with a heavenly scent. Lots of room though, lots of room is important, or you will have to prune it every morning to keep it off the other plants.

I can't think offhand of too many plants but what you want to do is look for white and fragrant.
One way to do this is to order abunch of catalogues ( and this is the perfect time for that as many companies are putting out their new catalogues for next year.

actually I forgot I had bookmarked a couple of sites a while back so will give those to yoou.

also besides the plant don't forget about lighting. use some spot lihts and other lights to move yong.
An added benefit of the moonlight garden is that sometmes you get moths and if you are very lucky may even spot an owl in the distance.

enjoy your gardening

Here are some common names for night bloomers. Missouri Primrose...looks like a dandelion until it opens at night and the bloom is beautiful, yellow, orchid like appearance. And there are Angel Trumpets...look like they sound...huge white trumpet blooms that just radiate at night. The blooms will not be dead in the morning like the Missouri Primrose. Then there is evening Primrose...a very tall, many branched plant with numerous small yellow blooms. The blooms will begin opening at dusk. Four o'clocks. These are bushy, tall, full plants of many colors. Just select the colors you want...purple, yellow, white, striped. They begin to open at four o'clock pm...what a surprise. These four flowers span all sizes and in a group would be great at night.

Make sure you include some Tuberoses and Honeysuckle. They make the garden smell wonderful at night. White Phlox will show up after dark and can be very fragrant depending on the variety.
