We priced ourselfs out of the market place.
The average person demands 10 dollars an hour to make a product worth 5 dollars,China makes 10 of the 5 dollar items for 5 dollars an hour.
So big business(Mattel,Fisher Price so0forth) farm out to China to make the parts,we in America lose.

we have that here, made in taiwan. made in china etc just like food, most of the stuff us in MEDC's (more economically developed countries) eat is imported because those who grow it are in so much need for money that they take a very low wage and sell for a very low price. what does this mean to us? we are eating foreign foods at regular prices that were most likely purchased for a tenth of the cost.
with the majority of our food, products and services being imported or developed and handled over seas we are handing over control and leverage to overseas countries.
in the uk there is only a fraction of the food being produced that there was 200 years ago, well what about the day when the MEDC's are so developed and so digitally rich that the LEDC's decide not to supply them with food or products? you realise how weak we are? the same in the US, though im not 100% sure how much food over there is imported. if countries stopped trading with the UK millions of people would die, we no longer produce enough to feed the population by ourselves and so we are willingly dependent as we believe we are getting rich through the trade off from production to the service industry.
ps when you said made in america i originally thought wit would be a question about the film starring patrick swayze(spelling?) and whoopee goldberg(spelling?)

Do what I do. I look at the labels on certain items to see if they were made here. It doesn't always work because things made in America are few and far between, but I'm trying. I know it's probably pointless but it's my own little protest.

Because very little material things are made in this country, in part or as a whole. About the most American thing we make here is French Fries from Idaho.
