I'd have to vote for Liquor. Say a bottle of rum or brandy. Whatever you choose though, Make sure it's not tuna casserole!!! ;-P Have fun hon.

Bring a plate of cookies or fudge. Last year I was invited to a christmas dinner and I asked the hostess what I should bring and she told me nothing but I hated to show up empty handed so I made a "wreath of fudge". I make a five minute fudge and then put it into a bundt cake pan (or you can just use a round pan and take a can of soup or whatever and put it in the middle and pour the fudge around it) and then decorate it with pecans and put it on a plate and wrap it up in cellophane with a nice bow. Not a bit was left over and as a bonus the plate can be a nice hostess gift. Hope this helps! Merry Christmas!

Wow. What a betrayal by your family. I kind of understand that your grand mother may be "old school" way of thinking, but the rest of your family shutting you out? Cold man. My daughter's boyfriend of a couple of years is black and there's a family member who takes issue with that. We still invite him to family functions though. It's his fault if he's to racist to see past it to spend time with family. But this is more like going over to his house where my daughter's boyfriend would not be welcome. I would never betray my daughter by doing that. You have a legitimate pain. If I were you, next year I would volunteer to feed the homeless for Christmas dinner. Helping others is a constructive way to deal with this. Then when you're having a cocktail or two later, You won't be able to feel as bad. Hope this helps and good luck.

What you could do is ask if the person cooking dinner would like you to bring anything, that way you don't have doubles of the same food.
It will take a load off the cook's shoulders...
That is nice of you...Like I said give the host of the dinner a call and see what they would like you to bring.

Ask the Hostess what she needs. If she says nothing, a bottle of wine or some homemade cookies are always a nice thought.

Maybe a "next morning" basket. Bagels and some cream cheese, a small bag of great coffee, maybe some fruit.
She will be beat after this dinner. I know I received something like this once and will never forget how much I appreciated it!
