Well a few months ago me and some friends went on a school retreat, we were all assigned int oour room as a group, but when we were in bed he started to masterbate infront of us, i was thinking.. what the hell is he thinking?

Not wierd, pretty normal actually. we all gotta try stuff out, thats how we learn, he probly just enjoys being naked, and having a laugh.
Loosen up a little, maybe if u do the same, u'll have fun, later on in life u might go skinny dipping, streaking, other terrifyingly cool stuff like that.
Jacking off in front of u on purpose might be a little odd, but he probably just figures, u guys do it, so its ok. There're things blokes do do, together, but not everyone gets into it, just for fun, laughs, but u'll figure that out later.
I don't think he's really gay, maybe in 20 years time, right now hes just a guy!!;P

Haha, he's just open about his sexuality and the fact that you - 13 year olds - have recently started discovering the mysteries of your body (masturbation and stuff), he's feeling the need to make a big deal out of it.
It's normal, if a bit of a taboo, for young boys to do this. He's not gay, don't pay attention to the previous posters who claimed that he is.

he probably is also 13 and i will bet my last dollar that he has just started to think about his sexuality and sex in general in a big way. he probably also is trying to determine how much he can get away with before someone slaps him down and tells him to stop acting like a gooney bird.

ugh, never herd of that...
when I was in 5th grade... (I think thats like a bit younger than 13? cant remember that long ago) We had a school camp trip, and in our cabin, us guys would be like in our boxers, and maybe come out of the shower with a towel on... but like NO ONE started jackin' right in front of anyone. One kid latter 'came out of the closet' that was in our room, didn't even do that. (but not all gays are the same, unlike those _______. (hit, they have no Olympic team, because all of the _______ that can run, jump or swim are in the US)
and "putting his penis in your face" is kinda strange... maybe he was just being an ***, but it more sounds kinda like a older guy thing, that is like beyond stupid, and extremely intoxicated. (ha ha, that reminds me of a great story,... David V.s the alcoholics of Alaska)

Maybe he is comfortable with his body and his sexuality and feels no need to hide it. Or he might feel insecure and was trying to boost his ego or hide his insecurity.
