how much memory do u have? also have u checked for spyware? viruses?

Few reason, try / check the following

1. De-frag the machine
2. Scan for virus and also for cookies
3 If slow on line heavy Internet traffic additionally what speed are you on re the net?
4. Memory close to full delete unneeded information.
5. Movies take up a shi.....t load of space
6. Also 40 gigs tells no one anything........how much RAM is more important when it comes to speed of operation.
7 And if the problem is only recent.........you will have a bug/virus

1) memry? increase ram if it is always like this. Is it capable of running Xp?

2) defrag? does it need a defrag?

3) virus, spyware, adware, etc.

4) checked error logs?
