I was dating a man for about a year and a half now and I always knew he looked at porn, which I was ok with but the other day I was using his computer and looked at his history and saw that he had been looking at kiddie porn!!! I love this man very much but when I found out I broke it off with him, because that is just not something I think is not right. I did not tell him that I knew what he was looking at because I just felt very uncomfortable doing so but I know that the right thing to do is to turn him in to the law about this matter, because I am afraid that if he is not stopped now of what he may do to peoples daughters if he takes this to the next level. I feel really stupid asking this question but I don't know who to turn him in to. Do I go to the local police in his area or is there a special number to call about ts kind of thing. Also does anyone know when I report him do I have to give my name or can I remain anonymous because I'm not comfortable giving my name.

The right thing to do is report this. Child porn is not a victimless crime and is perpetuated by people who continue to look for this, driving up demand, which in turn has people creating new child porn and victimizing new children. I think it is liklely that the problem has gotten worse in the digital camera era where you do not have to get photos developed.

You can report it anonymously, but it is likely that they will have to divulge your name or he will figure it out anyway. So, if there are concerns for your safety...make that your priority to reporting him.

YOu can't be protected for too long because they will have to use you as a witness for a warrant to seize his computer as well as a witness at trial.

I'm glad to hear that you broke it off from this person...that speaks to your high standards.

Contact your local police, they will probably have a sex-crimes or computer crimes division/detective that will handle it.

you will have the final pastimes of others at heart, yet there is not any worry-free thank you to do what you love to do. If government acted on each and every nameless tip they have been given, we would have a police state. Plus do evaluate that years in the past in basic terms those pushed by making use of somewhat prurient needs would visit the extremes mandatory to get kiddie porn. Now, with each and every thing so available, even those with purely an idle interest would visit web content that have kiddie porn. they'd no longer even comprehend they are instant criminals. i'm no longer saying it is nice, yet your pal would possibly on no account have any purpose of appearing on his fantasy, and what you do ought to destroy his existence.

You can report it either to your local police or to the nearest FBI office. You can ask for your name to be kept confidential, which they can try to do, but cannot promise you. If your testimony would be needed or an affidavit from you is needed for a warrant, your name would appear in court records.

Don't let that stop you from taking action.

I think if it was someone I loved , I would ask him about it. Sometimes you are re-directed to inappropriate sites and get caught in a loop of sorts. It would show up in your history even if you didn't go there on purpose. I would definitely ask him about it before you get police involved.

i would report that too. god knows whose kids are involved. i'd let a policeman handle this one. if it is your computer ? i'd suggest getting the files you want off of it as they will take the computer when they investigate. take your files you need off of it so you have copies.

Anonymous.

In my state, it seems to be the county sheriffs who specialize in this.

Glad you DTMFA.

Good Luck.
