I sent my expedited passport app out 4 days ago, but I'm supposed to leave on Monday... Can I get to mexico and back with just an ID card or birth certificate, or no? Thanks...

You need passport for air travel, land and sea travel any government I.D. will do.

I just crossed the border a few days ago with nothing more than a drivers license...I walked across.
I don't know about flying...but driving and walking is okay until Jan. 1, 2008.
