It's the talk that doesn't fit into any other category.

(My answer was actually serious. I felt that was the simplest and most creative way to arrive at it).

Hey!

Philosophy--the rational investigation of the truths and principles of being, knowledge, or conduct; Love and pursuit of wisdom by intellectual means and moral self-discipline.

Those are the best definitions for philosophy I can find. I, personally, have always thought of philosophy as the pursuit of a deeper understanding of everything we are, everything we see, everything we do, and everything we think.

Many people say God has nothing to do with philosophy. I don't agree, but I'm not going to argue the point.

Something you should know. Everything is perspective. What do YOU think philosophy is? 'Cause no matter what we all say, it's your perspective that matters.

Luv ya,
Tashi :)

Philosophy is a science that deals with the most basic issues of humanity. It has nothing to do with religion, by the way.

The literal meaning of philosophy is "love of wisdom".

Philosophy involves itself (and those who wish to pursue it) with investigating the way in which the mind works in the pursuit of knowledge.

Philosophy is thinking about what we think about.

Or more technically, it is the activity of exploring abstract concepts and issues as a discipline.

The dictionary describes it as (amongst other uses) ....the use of reason and argument in seeking truth and knowledge of reality esp. of the causes and nature of things and of the principles governing existance, the material universe, perception of physical phenomena, and human behaviour. Part of life is acting in the world. Experience. Another part of life is reflecting on our acting in the world.

What we get when we reflect, is knowledge. Wisdom. And this is philosophy. The knowledge we get when we reflect on our experience.

So everybody is a philosopher, because everybody acts and reflects.

Philosophy is a very good answer to a very good question. Both the question and the answer are usually well thought out before the one or the other opens their mouth.

The purpose of philosophy is to rotate your brain about the universe that you might understand it from many points of view in the hope that your own understanding of yourself may deepen and become more appreciative.
