Does anyone else find it sort of sad how instead of having some sort of debate, people in this section do exactly what politicians do? Attack each other, put convenient labels, and not respond?

I only see the same tired emotional-driven responses here
War
Immigration
Global Warming
Who's sucks more

Do you honestly think either major party is doing a fantastic job? I think all this smearing has lowered the overall standard. Rather than rise up, they put the other down to make themselves look better. Our last two presidents haven't been satisfactory, and the new lineup of candidates doesn't look awesome either

I think people should be more critical of their own parties. Otherwise, the politicians pretty much get away with corruption, back room deals, etc, which both parties already do because their supporters seem blind-sighted to their flaws.

I think we all get tired of the needless insults that are hurled here, but the Answers page is not set up to be a forum for debate, but instead, opinion.

If you'd like to debate, try a different format.

These are good ones:

VOTE Ron Paul, VOTE Hillery. No I just had to put that in there as a funny. You see them all over the place no matter what the question is. You got to admit it is funny when they get a perfect 0 "thumbs up" and the rest "thumbs down". People are sick of the junk and if you ask a question, you should expect an answer about the question, not a short commercial about a candidate.

immigration is wild. They say stuff in different languages, so you really don't know what is going on, only that however they are fighting with is not real happy.

i assume that is why they don't allow the sale of liquor on election day , but if yo are smart, you buy the day before and then run around. Take care. Hey seems we all had a pretty good discussion here and by the way I ate at Chic Fillet the other day.

Very disappointed. It appears that this section has had a big increase in the number of trolls lately.

Or it could just be the fact that I normally do not do Yahoo! Answers on Saturday nights and I am just viewing for the first time the slurs, insults and hate speech of those that don't have a life.

What I am seeing here tonight makes me sick and want to never use Yahoo! Answers again.

Well, it's just that people don't ask a question usually, they make a statement in the form of a question. That's far less interesting and enticing for people who enjoy politics and public policy debate and thought than if people came in with real questions they had about politics and we were civil enough to share ideas without insulting others who disagree. I guess people think they influence opinion, but they truly don't, and we operate on about the level of....children. That's why I don't spend TOO much time in this section anyway.

Things have quietened down lately.
Now that most neocons have finally accepted that a Democrat is going to occupy the White House the vitriolic name-calling has decreased.
I don't know how long you have been participating here, but a year ago this forum was crawling with sickos, believe me.
