In New Age theology, it is suppossed to be your soul coming back to your body too quickly. This is because our "soul" or astral body leaves the body every time we sleep, we are unable to consiously remember that though.

Think about this, have you ever had a buzzing sound and vibrating sensation when you are close to sleep? That is supposed to be the final stage where your astral body will leave your body. But, like lucid dreaming, this skill does not come easily to anyone to consiously be aware of that.

I was told it was the body's way of shutting down for some people. The sensation of falling during the hypnogogic stage is the most common "jerk" reaction.

yes, but for me it's usually that in my dream i'm walking down something, such as a flight of stairs, and i miss one and then i fall...i suppose that's an interesting thing to think about, though.

yes omg and it scares me too because one of my greatest fears is falling from a high place. but umm i have never thought about it like that!

i sometimes do that and i also sometimes when im laying down my leg just twitches out of nowhere its so weird and it takes me a minute to realize that i didnt mean to kick the air
