Yes, I would definitely care. I would feel a creeping feel of guilt that people I was living with on this earth my be completely annihilated by effects I had helped create. This would make me uneasy. Thats why I hope by that time we (the world) has found some way to fix or improve our over-population and global warming issues. If not, we may not only be destroyed, but we may have to go through the feeling of knowing we are going to be destroyed, which wouldn't be fun.

If I'm dead, what do I care? I'll be dead. Those that care so much about future generations either care in order to distract themselves from the reality of their own mortality and/or have not yet grasped the concept of their own death. Now does that mean that I'm going to ignore the problems? Certainly not, but am I going to run around like it's dooms day because of so called 'global warming' destroying the planet long after I'm dead? Nope. I won't care. I'll be dead and I think that 2050 - 2080 is too early to kill off the entire human population, but a good start on killing off those in poor nations and the end of globalization.

No. I have no power, I have no authority, I don't make decisions. I don't bear guilt of others' actions.

Scientists should have started speaking up 60-70 years ago, when the adverse affects of pesticides were made public (by a female author). Scientists have been very busy making products and technologies that have been hasting the demise of this planet for years - as they laugh all the way to the bank. If anyone bears guilt - it should be them. They've created technology to 'rape' the oceans of sea life; they've created a myriad of products made of indestructible plastics that are choking our landfills; pesticides that not only kill off the 'bad' bugs, but the butterflies, bees, praying mantis, ladybugs, and birds indiscriminately. The atomic testing that was done years ago, has left it's ongoing devastation for future generations - if they're able to reproduce. And on and on it goes. Scientists have sold their souls to the highest bidder - and don't get me started on scientists and the pharmaceutical companies, cloning, and the glow-in-the-dark cats they've just 'created.'

Believe me, if there was a market for pills to replace foodstuffs, they'd create it in a hot minute and no one would have to starve. But because there's no money in it - it won't happen.

Societies don't care thet is why they elect old people to run countries. That is also why those same old people create policies and decisions without thinking about the long term effects of those decisions.
