Lol, i know im probably gonna get crap for this Q, but i dont understand why you would have a song as a ringtone? Is it so everyone around you knows what songs you like? If so, who cares? If its just so you can hear a bit of the song you like, whats the point with that? So you can hear 5 seconds of a song you like?

I hope you don't get crap cps i totally agree with you. I especially hate it when they have a really naff song as their ringtone- it's like they think it gives them an identity and some kind of coolness.

I just use the free ringtones, but I think a song is just another way to personalize it. I'm only annoyed if it takes the person a long time to pick up the phone.

personalizing your things.. it is kind of stupid the ringtone thing.. but just like every other thing... your clothes, car, rims, wall colors, your AVATAR... a list many things basically.. its better to listen to something you like for those 5 seconds instead of a traditional ringtone.. you're not going to pick just any car, you're going to pay that extra money for the one that fits you, right? well thats a bigger deal than ringtones, but im sure back in the day the old folks probably didnt like all the newer cars that were coming out, they didnt see the diference a car is to get you from a to b. right..? in these times, people like their things to be personalized and different.
wow i went on and on im so bored... ha ha. but anyways thats how i see it.

It doesn't bother me. I actually have a ringtone for my cell phone. I change it every 2 months or so. It only bothers me if it's a song I don't like.

sometimes they may have a clear backroud music to something else
my dad had a back and black ringtone that was just the backround and it was clear
that I didn't mind

It depends on the song. I heard "Girls just want to have fun" one day, and that was very annoying, but other songs are cool.
