it seems like it has to run too much and it isnt as warm as the thermostat is set to be. it runs for like three or four minutes then is off for a few minutes then comes back on. the air coming out of the vent is only 80 degrees.

check your furnace filter if it is clogged than the air the furnace needs is harder to get into the furnace this may be causing the problem filters should be changed Evey 3 months or sooner if you have pets .Some filters only need two be washed read the filter

Hello Twist:

It depends on what type of heating system you have. If it is electric, the temperature should be about 30* hotter than the air going in. If gas, the temperature should be between 50* to 70* hotter than the air going in. If it is a heat pump, your temperature difference will only be about 20 to 40*.
