It depends, Halo 2 is a little better overall, it is more balanced, and more people play it. On the other hand, there is no assault rifle and the pistol is terrible in 2, Combat evolved is considered to have better weapons. Also, if you know the story, then Halo 2's single player is more fun.

Play halo 1 cos if you get halo 2 you probablly wont get the storyline of whats happening thats why i got it eventhough halo 3 has already been released

Yes. I enjoy the game when I find time to play it. Only problem is I keep finding other games to play for a bit then come back to it, and run thru it on a higher difficulty level. The multiplayer on it is good as well. By now there should be enough mods for you to do just about what you want with it as far as the games goes.

I've heard that Halo 2 has really high system specs and needs Vista. If you have a computer that can run it, get that one. Other wise, Halo CE is awesome as well.
