This is a fast growing tree, reminds me of a Tulip Tree, large oval leaves

Sounds like the African Tulip Tree, Spathodea campanulata. The Southern tip of Texas, the lowest part of Florida, and Southern California are about the only places in the US warm enough for one. When we were kids in the tropics, we would pinch off the tips of the flower buds before they opened and squirt the "juice" on each-other, like a mini squirt gun!
