I think that I would just attempt to stay ion touch with that contact & let them know how you feel when ever you can!!! I haved a feelng this person probably misses you as much as you are missing them!!! I doubt if he or she has gone to far away!!!

Just go to their profile page and either use e-mail, IM, or 360. It should work that way.
