Your point is well taken, but the "sciences" are the disciplines that define our world. Humans need them. Genetics may need some sort of moral code, or law, that defines what they can and cannot do, but whose code do you use? More questions---
The real question is: will humans cause their downfall or improve their lives through these disciplines. Do they have the strength to say no to themselves? More questions----

Science hasn't even started to get deep. Our understanding of the world could use much more work.
It's true genetics can have funky effects. But that's more of a "fun" project. Remember, it's the same technology that brings you the giant vegetables and fruits we have. Have you seen wild fruits of the everyday things we eat? Bananas are bitter, full of seeds, and terrible.

The purpose is to help understand genetics and proteins, specifically modifying proteins that could cause harm. This isn't for amusement, this has potential and practical applications for helping human genetic diseases.

To answer your question;
No, I do not see the reference to glow in the dark cats as a bad improvement. Just think of the number of cats saved from being flattened by cars at night if every cat had this trait.

Its the "libtards" who actually want to invest and promote science. The Republicans would rather we all just hope that God will snap his fingers and deliver any invention we use while we all sit around and wait for some coming "rapture"

Clearly you dont understand why that was done.
It was not a matter of amusing anybody, it is a matter of learning how traits from one animal can be passed on to another. With the intent of later on using that knowledge to better our medicinal techniques.
