Yes, I'm a leftie and so is my youngest son, which I'm quite pleased about. I don't know if anyone else in my family is left-handed as I'm adopted, I think that's why I'm glad my son shares my gene for this, an inherited trait. I only ever found it hindered me at school in two things, one was using a real ink pen with an ink well, I always smudged the writing. The other was in needlecrafts, I always sew in the opposite direction and getting right handed people to teach me how to knit was a nightmare, which is why I only really mastered knit one purl one. Otherwise, being a leftie has been a fairly positive thing, there's still not that many of us, so we stand out in a crowd, and at least if I break something and say "oh, sorry but I am left-handed, " right handed people think that's actually a plausible excuse!
Lol, Kuta.

My father was left handed.
For the last 5 years, I have been left handed and I'm adapting. I lost nearly all use of my left arm.
My children are right handed but half of my grandchildren are lefties.
Because my father was left handed, I always made sure my babies ate with their right hand.
I was told that I should have let them go and not force the issue.
To me it looked like things were cumbersome for my father.
He wrote in a very awkward position. That just looked hard to me.

My youngest sister claims that she was a leftie, but as luvs said, it was discouraged at the time, and she was encouraged to become one of the righties. There are many things that I can do better with my left hand, but writing is not one of them.

Not here -- was reading the other night that lefties were "special" people and usually artistic and/or rather sharp -- course they can be autistic too .. You is what you is ;0)

Of my six brothers, one is a lefty and one is ambidextrous
Edit: I remember they always had to sit at one position at the dinner table, as they were always bumping elbows, with the other righties

I am left handed. So is my husband. Our son is, too. Out of my immediate family, only my uncle was (he is deceased). I remember at family gatherings, for meals, he and I would sit at the end of the table, so we wouldn't bump elbows with anyone. I remember, also, when I was in elementary school, one teacher had me put my left hand behind my back, trying to "make me" use my right hand to write. Didn't work..
