Causes:

The misogynist person may have had an abusive mother figure in his/her life leading him to associate women with misery. Or it could be the case that, much like what the children of KKK members do to their children, the child's father teaches his son/daughter to hate women. The child in question may also go through life and experience many women treating him/her badly causing him/her to create a negative schema towards women. Lastly, the media presenting negative images of women might exacerbate the problem by building up a repertoire of stereotypes inside the person's mind.

Consequences:

Increase of incidences of rape or homicide. Decrease in the rights of women where misogyny is rampant. Basically women being viewed as having a less valuable life than men.
