It's supposed to be something about our choices not being caused..

To be fair, the brain is just an organic object with reactions happening amongst it, reactions cause particular choices. I don't understand the concept of "free will" scientifically. It's some superstition about choice I think...

Free will is an illusion created by man to make him feel safe.

Its an interesting theory, the idea that the brain is just a computer and that when we do something that defies "logic" (whatever that is) that it is a "glitch" of some sort.

On the one hand it seems like a sad and lonely affair. If I have no free will and am just a machine walking the Earth then whats the point?

On the other hand it makes for a wonderful comfort zone. It makes it easy to say that anyone who doesn't believe as you believe must have a "glitch" in their system that makes them believe differently. or that it is a defense system like a program protecting against virus.

Interesting. It isn't exactly what I believe. I think the universe is a bit more complicated than that. But that doesn't make it wrong. In the end, who knows?

To answer the question, Free Will is my choice to make some points on your theory :)

Acording to the ancient Vedic wisdom we living entities have minute independence. Which means depending on our karma or what we deserve to get in this life due to our past activities. To get a better understanding of what I mean, one first has to understand that we are not this material body, IE; Race, color, nationality, Religion, mind, intellect, senses, job, etc. We are all eternal spirit souls, part and parcel of the Supreme Soul, also known as Krishna, Allah, Jehovah, Vishnu, etc. We never die, only this mortal body dies. This material world is not our real home, it is called Maya (illusion) and is temporary and full of misery, only one fourth of the souls come here, and the rest are enjoying blissful eternal loving relationships with our Maker named above. We fell here due to envying Gods position. He made the material world for those who want to try to live separately from Him (free will) (though He is actually everywhere). After many lifetimes of trying to be happy in this temporary world, one becomes frustrated and board and begins to question their existence. We then seek out real happiness, and when one becomes sincere God reveals how to come back Home. Those who are intelligent, take up the process of self realization (Bhakti Yoga) which begins with the chanting of the Maha Mantra (the great mantra for deliverance from all suffering and illusion), which gives one real peace, happiness and reality. Then at the end of life they can give up all material attachments and fully surrender to God and return to the eternal Kingdom, where there is no more birth, death, old age, or disease and be eternally happy. For info. Go to harekrishnatemple.com Read Bhagavad Gita- As it is by Bhaktivedanta Prabhupada asitis.com you can read it on line. We can only enjoy or suffer as much as our past life activities permit in this life. (action and reaction) How we react to things in this life is going to creat our future karma (reactions good or bad)

Interesting question! We like to think we have freedom to choose, especially on moral and/or ethical issues. However, we are all subject to our environment, our personal circumstances, influences etc. etc. So, to some extent, no decision is entirely free.

Free will is the abillity to do what you want, think what you want, and be who you want to be, with no questions asked. And no doubts, no bounderies and absolutley nobody telling you if its wrong or right.
