its a fun idea to play around with, unfortunately its completely false. lets start off with the obvious. notice how its never a scientist that says aliens are here, its always a red neck with a camera at most, most of the time its just an eyewitness account.

now the not so obvious. a project called SETI was started in the 60's. its main goal was to scan space for radio transmissions, it has found none. which means that any intelligent life in the universe is more than 40 lightyears away. which means that it would take them about half a century to get here if they have achieved near light speed travel. nothin can go faster than light, it would end up having an infinite mass and require infinite energy and time. that 40 years is not counting acceleration and deceleration, it would take a long time to go from 0 to 186,000 miles a second and back to 0.

the energy it would take to transport any craft to near lightspeed would be massive. and then you would have to provide some kind of nutrition for the lifeforms in the craft, along with air and water. now multiply all of that by the amount of people think that they have seen aliens, thats alot of energy.

and what are the chances that aliens have discovered earth? or that life exists on it. weve sent radio transmissions into space with no reply.

and how come no scientist has ever seen an alien craft enter earths atmosphere. im sure some will say that maybe the craft is invislble. but thats impossible, no form of matter absorbs all light that it comes in contact with. so it would be visible in some form, most likely infrared or visible light. we havent witnessed one yet.

aliens are probably out there somewhere, just not on earth.

The question of aliens belongs in what is called paranormal phenomena.

The category includes ghosts, bigfoot, loch ness monster, the bermuda triangle, etc.

Paranormal means that there is no direct evidence. No physical proof. No scientific testing.

What is left are claims. You are left to believe or not believe in those claims.

As of 2007 December, no evidence exists to show that extraterrestrial life exists. No aliens.

Television is for education sometimes. Most of the time it is for entertainment. Entertainment does not have to be real or factual. It does not have to be based upon documented evidence.

If I make a documentary on someone who claimed to have seen a purple elephant, does that now mean that their existence is real?

In a sense, this question reduces to the Fermi Paradox. To summarize the argument in a sentence or two: Our galaxy produced Sun-like stars for at least a billion years prior to Earth's formation, and there is no particular reason to believe that the evolution of intelligent life will invariably require as much time as it has on our world. If extraterrestrial intelligence occurs with any frequency, therefore, the galaxy should have teemed with advanced civilizations well before the emergence of multicellular life on Earth - and if interstellar travel is possible, our planet should have been colonized many thousands of times over the geologic past. Had this occurred, it is unlikely that Homo sapiens would have evolved. It would be a truly astronomical coincidence if the first extraterrestrial visitation of this planet occurred at precisely the time we ourselves had begun to acquire rudimentary space travel.
In short: no, they are not. UFO reports are a cultural and psychological phenomena, not a physical or biological one.

Technically, it has been confirmed that we have been visited by alien life. In the form of microbes attached to asteroids. Specifically from Mars.

But I know what you are talking about. And I believe we have been. Not on the basis of the enormous number of sightings, but rather the enormous number of sightings when the best explanation is extraterrestrial.

True there are many hoaxes, but even hoaxes had to be examined, and there are times when extraterrestrial encounters is the best explanation. Including landing marks that shows signs of radioactivity or something. As an example.

A saying based upon Sherlock Holmes, once you have eliminated the impossible, what ever remains, how ever improbable, must be the truth.

Gabriel -

Think about what it would require for this to be true. There are no advanced aliens capable of space travel in our Solar System. We know that already. We are reasonably certain that there is noone capable of radio communication or space travel within 100 light years. If they were there, we would have heard them. Now, if they are from a point beyond 100 light years, and they accelerated and traveled at near light speed and then decelerated, then it would have taken them centuries of earth time to get here. That means they left their planet centuries ago. Now, why would they come here? Centuries ago, they would have looked in this direction and seen nothing to come and see - no external evidence of intelligent life - or any life, for that matter. So why would they spend a lifetime getting here and back - to sneak around and poke at people that drive 20 year old pickup trucks? This makes no sense whatsoever, and I don't care if anyone says they have advanced technology that we don't know about - it still makes no sense.
