People text message usually because they are at a place where they can not talk out loud or hear very well, like a classroom or a concert. Also, sometimes people just don't feel like talking for too long, so they'll send a brief message to someone else.

Because humanity is losing all of it's common sense. Texting is the most retarded practice since drilling holes in your head. It is in no way quick nor is it efficient because it takes a really long time when you could say much more for the same price by just calling the person. Also, texting causes car accidents, but that isn't the phone's fault. It's the idiot who decides that it's okay to text while you drive.

Why text when its quicker to just pick up the receiver and begin talking. I don't get the concept of text messaging when it costs so much money. Well, text messaging scientifically will help those when they get older not to develop memory loss nor brain disfunction. Also, why do we have mail service when we have Internet, right? Why have mail service when we have text messaging....

Text messaging is a quick and efficient way to send and receive messages without the hassle of letters or the internet. You should try it, it is as fun as it is addicting.

Text Messaging is easy and quick and many people can text you at once. Usually you don't want to call someone just to ask them a question that is super short!

I know i did it becaus ei had a limited amount of minutes i could use a month. Text messaging was just cheaper then calling some one also if you needed to tell them a list it is easier for them to jsut see it instead of hear it!

sometimes it is easier than calling. I do it when I need to tell someone something but I dont want to commit to a whole conversation. Also, sometimes if you are in a public place it is better to text, or if you need someone to remember info, texting is good because they will have the info stored on their phone.

I guess because they are somewhere loud so maybe can't hear to talk, or want to be more private than talking out loud about all their business in public.
Personally I hate seeing people walking around texting or on the phone.....no one seems to communicate face to face anymore, every idiot in town is walking around on a cell phone........
